Our History

A whole lot has changed since we first flagged off...

2024

A triumvirate of engineering expertise, a deep interest in vexillology & friendly customer relations built over years. This plays a crucial role in driving innovation within The Flag Shop/FlagSource, allowing the companies to thrive with their legacy of producing high-quality flags while exploring new avenues in the field of flag design and manufacturing.

2022

A significant move for The Flag Shop with the new member’s addition for Efficient Production Techniques, Technological Integration, Market Research, Sustainable Practices and Product Diversification.

2020

Celebration for the successful completion of 25 years of manufacturing quality flags. On this occasion we introduce a new brand name FlagSource.

A new member is introduced, Nihar Shah.

2013

The Flag Shop becomes India’s only store that sells exquisite quality flags & accessories online with the easiest payment options.

2011

Aerial advertising is successfully launched in India for the 1st time with the Volkswagen Beetle aerial flag of size 80ft x 120ft flown across Bombay & New Delhi.

We win many prestigious awards with this achievement.

2010

We jointly work with the US Consulate & Secret Service, in providing all the USA & Indian flags (table, car & floor pedestals) during US President Barack Obama’s November visit to India.

2009

We become India’s only giant flag makers, making the world’s largest flag of India - 48ft x 72ft. Mr. Naveen Jindal gives us the Largest Indian Flag Appreciation Award on behalf of his foundation.

2008

The Flag Corporation, a division of The Flag Shop is introduced to the world for exports. Our website is completely revamped with our revolutionary range of quality flags & accessories.

The IPL is the highlight of the year, opening up a new avenue of sports flags & hand flags in India amongst thousands of cricket fans.

The world’s largest South African flag of size 60ft x 90ft is proudly manufactured by us. This flag is made exclusively for the annual South African Tattoo 2008 at Montecasino, Johannesburg. Click here to view details.

To top it off, we are presented the Bhartiya Udyog Ratna Award.

2006

We are presented with the National Youth Award by the National Youth Project. A decade into the business, we manage to successfully sell a little over 75,000 flags. Get press coverage from various newspapers & channels over the years.

2005

We meet Mr. Naveen Jindal, founder of the Flag Foundation of India, who has been our mentor all along, to radically improvise on a common cause that we both strongly believed in - To motivate Indians to fly the Tiranga, especially our youth.

2004

The Flag Shop launches new miniature flag bases in acrylic, stainless steel & brass, for single flags, cross flags & group flags.

The future finally begins to look bright as we become a full-fledged flag manufacturing enterprise.

2002

We introduced our newest range of outdoor national flags of all countries in sizes 12” x 18”, 2ft x 3ft, 3ft x 4.5ft & 4f x 6ft which are made by appliqué & embroidery / hand sewn.

2001

The Flag Shop growing in size with business and employees, it relocated to Laxmi Mill Estate, Mahalaxmi, Bombay.

We introduce our latest range of car window flags & larger outdoor flags.

2000

All the flags for the US President, Bill Clinton’s visit to India are proudly fostered by The Flag Shop.

1998

The founder laments lack of awareness for quality flags in India. The Flag Shop remains a recreational/part-time business venture as it records a disappointing annual sale of only ₹35,000 ($760.00)

1996

The Flag Shop is finally born. We were the 1st & only manufacturers of high quality flags in India. Our Kalbadevi office in Bombay had a mere 5 employees.

1995

With endless research & numerous sleepless nights, flag manufacturing finally commenced. Only to soon learn that the majority of flags printed were all ‘rejects’ & ‘no good’.

1994

After moving out from his ancestral property at the Sindh Cloth market in Bombay, Mr. Prashant Shah, a Bombay-born entrepreneur, desires to have a good quality Indian flag on his table at his first & newly renovated Kalbadevi office.
